ADULT HELP FOR SPRING MULCH SALES
The Troop Committee is looking ahead to plan the spring mulch fundraiser. Help is needed to work with mulch and equipment vendors, coordinate scout sales, create mailings and flyers, work the order tracking system, and coordinate delivery day operations. Contact Arcel Castillo if you are interested or have questions.
THIS WEEKEND FEBRUARY 7th -
SUNDAY: Meet at church in Fellowship Hall at 11:00 am. If you are participating in the service (Greeter, Usher), arrive between 10:00 and 10:15 am to reporti at 10:15 as greeter/usher. NOTE - the timing and breakfast for greeters/usherers has been change - ushers now fed with congregation and start work a little earlier.
- Activity: Serve breakfast to the congregation in the Fellowship Hall. Scouts will be fed breakfast at 11:00. The church service will start at 10:45 am. The pancake breakfast for the congregation will start around 11:45 am.
- Uniforms: Wear Class A+ uniforms, including neckerchiefs and merit badge and OA sashes.
- Finished: Scouts may be picked-up at 1:30 pm at the church.

Back by popular demand, the Troop will be returning to Norfolk this spring for the Norfolk NATO festival. Once again, we will participate in the parade, attend the festival, visit Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin and attend the evening International TATTOO performance. Spaces are limited to 25 scouts and 10 adults so please sign up early.

HELP WITH EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT
Nathan Sperry’s Eagle Scout project will be held on Saturday, February 13th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. It will be held at MITRE’s office building in Tyson’s Corner. MITRE is a non-profit company that hosts a large collection of STEM-based equipment they use for youth activities. For this project, volunteers will be organizing, labeling and inventorying the equipment. Once it is all organized and inventoried in a database, MITRE will offer the equipment for use by the general public, allowing clubs and other youth groups around the area to have access to equipment they normally wouldn’t for free. Pizza and refreshments will be served at noon.

The first George Mason District Life to Eagle Seminar of the year will take place on Saturday, 20 February at 1:00pm in Fairfax City; this information session is recommended for all Life Scouts and their parents/guardians, adult Advancement Committee Members/Eagle Advisors, and Troop Leaders. All youth that are Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Camp Fire Club members, in uniform or wearing an official pin, are admitted FREE to the estate. Two leaders from each group will receive discounted admission. Additional adults accompanying scouts will be charged the regular daytime admission fee.

Each year since its inception, Scout Engineering Day has hosted between 300 to 400 Girl, Boy, Sea and Varsity Scouts and 70 to 100 Scouters, Merit Badge Counselors and volunteers for an exciting day of STEM activities. TROOP 895 SUMMER CAMP OFFERINGS - SIGN-UP DEADLINE 2/15/16:
Troop 895 is planning on offering summer camp on two different weeks this summer at two different camps this year.
• For the week of July 2nd through July 9th Troop 895 will be attending Camp Bowman in the Goshen Scout Reservation. Camp Bowman is a patrol cooking camp so scouts get good opportunities to learn to prepare food on a camping trip. This trip will be lead by Mr. Martin.
• For the week of July 24th through July 30th Troop 895 will be attending Camp Ottari in the Blue Ridge Council. Camp Ottari is a dining hall camp with affiliated camp opportunities. This trip will be lead by Mr. Sperry.
Flyers for both camps are attached and scouts are invited to attend one or both of the camps. The time to make reservations is coming up soon and space will be limited so please get your reservations in as soon as possible.
